Summer 2026 in words

Between 1 June and 31 August 2026, Flott Taxi received 8,303 ride requests in Iceland. These ride requests represented demand for 20,276 passengers and 199,469 kilometres of travel, an average of 90.3 requests and 2,168 kilometres of requested distance per day across the 92-day season.

53% of ride requests were pre-booked, meaning 4,427 requests were placed in advance rather than for immediate pickup. Airport transfers represented 46% of recorded demand, which reflects how much of the summer traffic in Iceland moves between Keflavík Airport (KEF) and Reykjavík. City rides in the Reykjavík area were the second largest segment, followed by hotels and guesthouses, the cruise port, and lagoons and spas.

Demand came from 1,535 unique customers who submitted 5.4 requests each on average, and 65% of them were repeat customers — 997 people came back to request another ride. Requests covered 3,741 distinct routes and 1,132 destinations, with an average requested ride of 25.1 km and a median of 7.6 km. The busiest single day was 16 August 2026 with 242 ride requests.

Demand concentrated in the late afternoon and evening: 37% of all ride requests fell in the 14:00–20:00 window, and Saturday was the busiest weekday at 17.2% of the season. 56% of requests arrived through the Flott Taxi mobile app, and requests included 12,872 bags in total.

Annualised run-rate: 32,941 ride requests per year if summer demand held at the same level all year — a projection, not a recorded figure.
